Welcome to Sleep for Life, the Sleep Lab in the Health Psychology PhD Program at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Members of the lab conduct research on connections between sleep and cognition, behavior, and health. It’s amazing how critical sleep is to cognition, mood, emotion, behavior, and a variety of health outcomes. Projects have examined links between sleep and cognition (memory strategies in children), academic outcomes (college students), behavior (risk-taking by adolescents), clinical conditions (such as ADHD, fear desensitization), and several health outcomes (blood pressure, body mass index). We use data collected locally as well as data from several large, archived data sets.
The topics of specific research projects are determined by the interests of lab members. The lab is affiliated with the Undergraduate Program in Psychology and the Health Psychology PhD program at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. The Health Psychology Program has three tracks: clinical, community, and general experimental. Students from any of the tracks can join the lab. We also work with students in the Master’s Programs in Clinical/Community Psychology and Industrial/Organizational Psychology, and with students in the Organizational Science PhD program.
