- I am an Assistant Professor of German at UNC Charlotte. My research interests include German postwar film and literature, global horror cinema, and media studies. I have published on the multi-media aesthetics and hidden politics in the work of Rolf Dieter Brinkmann, the transfers between rubble literature and film in the works of Heinrich Böll, and the limits of literary representation in Rainald Goetz’s Rave. An essay on augmented reality games appeared in an edited volume in 2016. I am also one of the translators of Alexander Kluge’s latest book, Kong’s Finest Hour. Currently, I am working on a monograph on (West) German horror film after 1945; I recently published an article about German no-budget splatter in the Journal of the Fantastic in the Arts. Critical essays on John Carpenter’s The Thing and Dennis Gansel’s Wir sind die Nacht are forthcoming in 2018. I also serve as the vice president of the Philological Association of the Carolinas.
