Areas of Specialization:
Mark Sanders joined the Philosophy Department at UNC Charlotte in 2006. He is a Faculty Associate with the Center for Professional and Applied Ethics and the Faculty Co-Advisor of the Philosophy Club.
Dr. Sanders’ areas of specialization are American pragmatism and social-political philosophy. He has presented papers on various topics in these areas and has recently published articles in Human Affairs and the Review Journal for Political Philosophy. His most recent work centers on the intersection of deliberative democracy, pragmatic pluralism, and citizenship. He also works in ethics and phenomenology, especially Maurice Merleau-Ponty.
